Sample Logistics Technician

Summary

Currently, Anandia Labs has an opening for a Sample Logistics Technician. The Sample Logisitics Technician will receive and log-in samples under supervision and will support lab maintenance which includes waste handling, inventory organization, sample preparation and administrative duties as needed. Duties & Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

Responsibilities

  • Receive, inspect, and log-in testing samples into Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS) according to established procedures;
  • Ensure that client requests are correct and entered in a timely and accurate manner which includes requested lab services, sample IDs and turn around times;
  • Sort and distribute samples from and back into inventory;
  • Receiving and unpacking laboratory supply delivery packages and restocking inventory;
  • Maintain laboratory supply inventory and order laboratory supply;
  • Maintain a clean, safe and orderly work environment;
  • Handling and cleaning laboratory glassware;
  • Assists other lab personnel in sample preparation, such as labeling and weighing samples;
  • May be cross-trained to perform basic laboratory technician duties, such as balance and pipette verification;
  • Performs variety of administrative duties, such as answering and routing incoming calls, maintaining visitor logs and other related activities;
  • Answering phones, taking messages and directing calls; and
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Science preferably in Biology or Chemistry or Biology / Chemistry Laboratory Diploma or equivalent;
  • Minimum 1 year of laboratory experience;
  • Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail and ability to troubleshoot;
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills;
  • Very good verbal and written communication skills in English;
  • Ability to work in a dynamic, fast-paced, team environment;
  • Data entry skills required;
  • Personal computer skills, including strong typing ability and proficient use of Microsoft Office;
  • Experience with LIMS or other data entry system is an asset;
  • May be required to lift, move and carry up to 40 pounds;
  • Laboratory skills and experience helpful;
  • Multitasking capability; and
  • Familiarity with ISO/IEC 17025 and GLP requirements is an asset.
